DAY 17 in
BARCELONA
A very
chilly morning and it was blowing a gale and pouring with rain as we docked at
5.30am. Fortunately it cleared away by
8.00am, the sun came out and the day was pleasant but the wind was cold if we
were in the shade.
We decided
to walk into the city from the ship, it only took us around 25 minutes. We are
sharing the pier with Cunards Queen Victoria and Seven Seas Mariner. Silver
Cloud was here again, they must be following us. Later in the day one of the Costa ships arrived. It’s a very busy port here.
Barcelcona
is like the other cities we’ve visited, steeped in history. The buildings are
stunning. We wandered down through the
avenue of trees on La Rambles. There are so many cafes little market stalls and
restaurants. Tapas bars on every corner.
We’ve been to Barcelona twice before but have to say we love it more each time
we visit. They say there are many pick
pockets here and warn visitors to watch their valuables closely, but I must say
we didn’t feel uncomfortable at all. So far we haven’t heard of anyone off the
ship having any trouble.
Dinner was
a little rushed this evening as we had to go to our Muster Stations by 10.00pm.
Ours was outside on Deck 4 and it was freezing cold there. Still no-one
complained as it’s very important information for the safety of everyone one
board. The ship was re-scheduled to sail at 10.00pm, however, I think we sailed
at around 1.00am because I vaguely woke to feel the movement of the ship as we
sailed from the port.
I don’t think
I mentioned previously for anyone who is booked on Voyager out of Australia or
New Zealand there are 2 x120V sockets and 1 x240V socket in the cabin. The 240V
requires a two round pin adapter and the 120V requires a two flat straight pin or
a two flat straight pin with a round pin on the top adapter. Is that as clear
as mud….. lol. J
